Have you ever wanted to run a 5K, but just don’t know how to get started? Our race is the perfect one to try out as your first 5K endeavor! Here is why….

Beautiful Course

On our course, you will find a neat start and finish line on the Cedarville University track, and you will proceed to run around the whole campus, which includes wrapping around Cedar Lake, the Health and Science Building (which is where the students who receive our scholarship study), and even Founders Hall, one of the original buildings of the campus.


Good Cause

Our race is 100% charity. Registration fees go to the Linda A. Ferguson Memorial Scholarship, which is a fund set up for scholarships for students studying to be nurses with an interest in oncology. We have a passion for helping people with cancer, and we can’t reach everyone, but our scholarship helps nurses who can reach out and touch countless patients we can never reach. We’ve awarded 4 scholarships thus far, and will award our 5th in April. These students carry Jesus’ love to those they serve.

If you want training tips, we want to help! Whether this is your first 5K, and you’re just looking to complete it, or if this is your 100th and you are looking to gain a great finishing time, we are here to give you tips. You can reach out through our website, and we will get back with you to help you know how to start. But, if you are interested, here are a few tips to get you going…

A Few 5K Training Tips

It’s OK to walk. If you’re new to this, don’t think you have to just jump out and go. You can start out easy. Run 30 seconds, Walk 30 seconds. Build up to longer times. Before you know it, you will hit your mile. Walking is OK. You can find some really great apps to help you with this- Couch to 5K is a great one with which to start.

Get good shoes. Good running and/or walking stems from having good shoes. Trust me, it’s a worthy investment. Most running stores will be willing to talk you through what you need, based off how your feet fall and the arches and toe base.
